Well, it's customary to post an update when an issue in the original query has been resolved satisfactorily. That way, a poor sap like me don't come along and waste everyone's time. As for GMLAN, I wasn't referring to anything tangible, e.g., I'm presently writing this on the chevroletforum web server over a "network."

Thanks for your input; I did update the "Interior Light Issue". Actually I forgot it was mentioned here as well as there is/was a seperate thread https://chevroletforum.com/forum/sil...lverado-44803/.

As for the GMLAN, since everywhere I see and read about the aftermarket module/intergace which takes care of the chimes etc... I thought that the stock GM equipment did have a "tangible" devise. This is why i'm looking in all diagrams to find this devise.

My problem is that i want to maintain the stock OEM radio, but i want my music to sound hard through the fron door speakers as well.

Default Chimes and radio

2008 Avalanche.

Someone in one of the replies told me to check the wiring below the emergency brake. I did that and seperated the wiring and pulled the cover off of where the wiring harness is plugged in under the steering column. I reset or made sure everything was plugged in. Now the radio works but only from one side.....usually the right....if I put the key in and the chime works,,,then the left speaker works, if not, the right...I don't know much about the box below the steering column, but it probably has a bad fuse/module in it.....

If anyone knows about these fuses/modules, let me know.......thanks

I'd say it's almost always the radio and/or amplifier if present but not after someone's been screwing around with the wiring. Instead of going about it blindly, consider a visit to the service department. The technician can hang a scan tool and troubleshoot the issue systematically.

You may want to check your owner's manual, starting on page 5-107. That may help you find the correct fuse. However, I agree with EinST, you may be better off having a technician take a look at it. They'll be able to offer a more accurate diagnosis for you.

Please keep us posted.

If you have additional questions, please feel free to contact me.

Have you fixed this issue? If not mine did the same thing. I removed the interior door panel unplugged the speaker and had some small solid wire that i pushed into the plug and connected to a speaker i had around the house. tried that and it worked. I ordered a new speaker on ebay for 26 bucks.

It's nice of the GM rep to suggest taking your truck into the dealer, but it costs a lot especially if you're going in to explore. I have a 2007 Classic (old body style) and have the same problem with the chimes and front speaker going out????? Need help. If it's this common of a problem GM needs to come up with a resolution. Come on now the government bailed them out of their problems. Time for them to help out their supporters.

hello,

it seems that this is a common issue with all chevys.. I had an 11 avalanche with a aftermarket headunit. I installed the pac harness for the onstar with a seperate speaker, then wired up amps and new chime module.. Ok now I have a 13' avalanche, where I am connecting my amplifiers to the OEM NAV and Radio. With this in mind, I was assuming the chimes would not be effected being I am still keeping the factory headunit. So I made my connections through the output of the bose amp to my High/Low Converter, to the amplifiers with RCA Cables, Then a 18/9 multiconductor to the console back to the bose amp and spliced to the factory speaker cables. I am now without any chime for any entity on my avalanche. Keep in mind the factory amp is not being bypassed like an aftermarket HU. It is going through the H/L converter to the amp and back to the speakers. Is this something I caused or is this something that happens whenever you cut the speaker cables. If anyone has a simple solution without going through the service dept at my local chevy dealer please let me know...

Thanks

Philip

Default No chimes no radio..

My daughter just bought a 01 monte carlo and the radio dont work or the door chimes.
We checked amp and that has power, checked wiring on the drivers door which is good. The radio has power but nothing will play through the speakers. I was reading on here that it could be the GMOS-LAN Interface" module. Where is this module located at ?? It does have Onstar.. Very frustrated, any help would be appreciated..

2003 Chevy Trailblazer owners manual says
turn radio off
turn key to on position
press and hold 6 on the radio.
this controls chime volume and radio volume
as you hold it the volume goes from low normal then high as you hold it

. worked for me
