Default Cleaning 02 Sensors

Well I browsed around today and saw a few threads here and there about cleaning 02 sensors. It seems electrical cleaner works alright. So I took the chance cleaning mine, I was prepared to buy new ones if I had to.

I used my own idea and dipped the heads in CLR for a few minutes and then washed them off with electrical cleaner. Boy did they look new, but lets see if they work better if at all now. So I dried them out with a air gun and reinstalled them. She started right up and then went into a seizure, the idle was very low and shaky. I figured maybe they needed to warm up and burn out any remaining chemicals on them. My scanner said (Random Misfire) After a test drive and a hard run it smoothed out and ran better than before I cleaned them. Go figure

PLEASE DONT do this if you cant afford new 02 sensors or nothing is wrong with your o2 sensor(s)( $280 for set of 4, for my truck). It just seemed to work for me. I am sure there are threads about this here, Just wanted to share mine.

You used CLR? I didn't think it would be safe for sensors. You might be in the lucky category on that one.

Zuki: CLR is that cleaner that says Calcium, Lime, Rust on it. It used to even be on tv where a clogged shower head was like new after like two minutes and a nasty penny looked new after thirty seconds.

Or maybe it cleaned it perfectly. It would get everything out of them sensors, that's for sure. It's kinda weird that it freaked out at first though. Maybe it wasn't dry enough.
