I have a 1995 chevy 1500 Z71. I am having fuel problems. It seems like it's starving for fuel. I want to clean out the fuel injectors the right way, not just by running additives through it because they didn't work. So my question is how do you clean out the fuel injectors?

 

have you tried seafoam?

 

yes i tried seafoam and it didn't do anything. I want to manualy clean out the injectors

 

Before you go to the trouble of a manual cleaning. Have you checked the usual suspects that can cause a lean condition?

SUSPECT LIST.
1. fuel filter partially clogged.
2. oxygen sensor/s can effect fuel ratio.
3. vacuum leaks.
4. sensors on the ragged edge but not throwing a code.
5. EGR. valve

well i figured out what happened. The fuel filter had started to get a little cloged in the first place. Thats when I ran the seafoam through it. After I did that my problem got worse and worse really fast. The seafoam had flushed a bunch of crap outa my tank and it all collected in my fuel filter. I changed the filter and it made a night and day difference. Everything seems to be running good now but I still think I want to clean out my fuel injectors just as a maintenance thing. So again, how do you do it?

 

you don't. gas and seafoam is all you can do, aside from replacement.

 

sounds like sea foam did its job. maybe run sea foam thru it again or put a can in your gas tank which will run thru the injectors. it should remove alot of the deposits and carbon build up

 

My silverado 1997 v8 won't start. its not thr fuel pump, and its not thr fire. and its not thr fuel relay. what else is there?

 

clogged fuel filter? does the starter make one click or multiple clicks?

 

I am rebuilding the top end of a 5.7 Vortec. It has the spider-type fuel injector with poppets. I want to clean the injectors while its taken apart. Is this possible? whats the best method? thanks
