Ignition coils?
depending on plugs, wires, compressions ratio, fuel mixture, temperature, cap, rotor.....anywhere from 20,000-60,000 volts

I doubt there is that big of a range in volts for this coil. I simply wanted to know the output voltage of a stock coil for this particular vehicle.

to the OP: I think you might want to listen to this guy...Do a search on the forums and read his posts...pretty sure he knows what he is talking about...Just my opinion...

please don't over analyze this question all...given ideal operating conditions as it was engineered on paper and produced by the factory.... Perhaps I have mis worded my question...What is are specifications for this coil as it came stock?

It really isn't a huge deal to me, I was just curious if I would benefit much w/ a coil upgrade....

Replacing a HEI coil with a decent aftermarket part isn't that hard, most large part stores carry one, sometimes there's even a package with a new cap and rotor. Given the age of your vehicle, IMO a coil change would be in order, and generally you'll notice a crisper start and slightly better response and MPG, but nothing to write home about.

We all respect ShawnVW because he knows what he's doing. He always been a help in hard times.
