Default Cold Air Intake (AIRAID)

I intend to get a cold-air intake system for my 2004 Silverado truck sometime soon. My neighbor recommended "AIRAID" because he had one on his Silverado before he sold it.

One web page has it for $219.00 with free shipping. They have a K&N brand, but it is a few bucks more. I think I might go with the AIRAID, but I know that K&N is very good as well. Both have the "reuseable" fillter, I believe.

Any thoughts on this?

I wouldn't recomment the K&N CAI. I have an airaid, it works good. I use a spectre air filter with it.. The k&n works ok, but there are just better options.
Remember with reusable filters you gatta clean them and oil them before reinstallation.

I would recommend airaid of Volant. Volant has a heat shield that keeps that hot 200° engine compartment air away.

Volant is great, but you can also get the airaid MIT tube. It replaces just the tube and uses the stock air box with a drop in filter. Literally the same thing as a cold air intake but actually helps you a lil more. Dyno proven

I know the K&N has one of those reuseable filters that you have to clean and oil rather than replace......but does the AIRAID work the same way?

It never occurred to me how many different options there are with these things!

The filter is just 1 aspect. You can use k&n if you want, like I said I use spectre.
The actual intake is the other portion of it. Its just what the filter will mount to and the tube connecting to the intake.

I think this is where you are getting mixed up.
K&N makes filters. What they are widely known for.
HOWEVER they also make an intake setup.

You can get an intake setup from several different manufacturers and you
Can take a k&n cone type filter that'll fit right onto the intake.
Airaid is not a filter, airaid is just the intake setup.

Like I said I have a spectre on my airaid, I could put a k&n on the airaid if I want.

I would recommend a volant or airaid intake setup. I do believe volant has their own filter
Unless someone wants to correct me.
Or you can get an airaid and put a k&n filter on it.

Get it?

Oh, okay. The AIRAID had what looked like a filter attached to it on their web page. I'll take a look at it tomorrow when I get more time. THANK YOU, sir!

The airaid may come with a filter, or they may just have some random filter attached for advertisement purposes to show you what it'd look like.
Is ait a cone type filter?
Can you post a picture of it?

So its a cone type filter on there, and it appears to be their own brand cuz it says airaid on the end.
Its probably damn near the same thing as a k&n or any other CAI filter.
You oil and clean it just the same.
But if you really want, a k&n cone type filter should fit right onto it no problem.

Yeah, I think I am going to go with the AIRAID - probably when my next good commission check comes in.
