Default Cold Air Intake - Picking the right brand.

I'm in the market for a cold air intake and everyone I know has used K&N, however I'm starting to hear bad things about them, is there another brand I can look at other than K&N and has anyone used the Injen Power Flow intake? From reading about it, it sounds like its a great performer, then again so does everything else. Thanks for reading.

You should look into Volant, Airaid, and Spectra.

I like the look of the Volant, plus it has a great big heat shield and
Plugs straight into the stock air duct.

I have airaid with a spectre and it works great, though no heat shield.

And spectre I see all the time. I think both specre and airaid have more cfm
Airflow than KN. Here is my airaid setup on my '95:

I've had a volant on my truck for about 2 years now and there's no complaint at all. has the box that I wanted(which is why I didn't get k&n) and I have seen some big improvements when it gets colder. i didn't use the volant filter though, I picked up a k&n filter because I've always heard they were the best filter not the best intake

The Volant CAI looks really good, and might be cooler since its plastic over chrome, do you know anything about their air scoop as well? It seems like a really neat idea, but I would be worried about trash coming up through the scoop.

By "scoop" do you mean that long air duct/snorkel?
I doubt much would get up in there.
And if anything does, that's what the filter is there for.
I wouldn't worry about it.

I doubt much of anything is going to find it's way up there. And
Whatever does will be stopped by the filter.
If you want, you could put a fine mesh wire screen or a duct cover
On there. But it will be fine as is
