Default Concern: Only (continual) Sixth Gear Driving

Hello All:
Recently (last 50 miles) I have been driving (leaving) truck in SIXTH (manual mode) gear, and 2WD.
Also, I have been turning off Traction Control/Electronics, and A/C.

Driving with these circumstances, my (projected) MPG numbers went up. Truck empty.
I have plenty of power moving from STOPPED position. A normal acceleration will not exceed 1500 RPM.
Approx mileage numbers are:
In Sixth Gear.... Anticipated 21.1 MPG
AUTO 4WD .............. 15.2 MPG
2WD........................18.1 MPG
Towing (4K lbs TT).... 11.1 MPG
I have recorded all gas purchases and milage points in an Excel worksheet these last 13,000 miles. Driving modes are accurate also.... first 2K miles in AUTO 4WD not thinking correctly.

QUESTION:
WILL this continual (6th gear only) be HARMFUL to vehicle?

Yes....

Watched Tach meter closely and it is hitting 2 K RPM for brief moment.
DIC (Driver Information Center) is monitoring Fuel Economy of last 60 miles. One sees the BAR graph displayed.

According to your owners manual (you read that part right? about the manual gear selection)

Using the manual mode and setting it to say 5 or 6 is telling the transmission that is its highest attainable gear... it will shift to all gears and stop at the highest one you have manually set... i.e. 6

Manual Mode
Range Selection Mode
If equipped, Range Selection Mode
helps control the vehicle's
transmission and vehicle speed
while driving downhill or towing a
trailer by letting you select a desired
range of gears.
To use this feature:
1. Move the shift lever to
M (Manual Mode).
2. Press the plus/minus buttons on
the shift lever to select the
desired range of gears for
current driving conditions.
When the shift lever is moved from
D (Drive) to M (Manual Mode), a
number displays next to the M,
indicating the current transmission
range.
This number is the highest gear that
the transmission will command while
operating in M (Manual Mode). All
gears below that number are
available. As driving conditions
change, the transmission can
automatically shift to lower gears.
For example, when M5 is selected,
1 (First) through 5 (Fifth) gears are
automatically shifted by the
transmission, but 6 (Sixth) cannot
be used until the plus/minus button
on the shift lever is used to change
to the range.
In vehicles with gasoline engines,
when the shift lever is moved from
D (Drive) to M (Manual Mode), a
downshift may occur. The gear that
the transmission is operating in
when the shift lever is moved from
D (Drive) to M (Manual Mode)
determines if a downshift occurs.

Well thank you....
I may have read those passages as I read (without enthusiasm) through manual.
But, your explanation made it sink in......
Thanks again.

Sorry I don't frequent this forum as much as others I do. But just as said above, it shouldn't let you just drive around in 6th gear. It'll still shift through all the gears like normal
