dash light

My dash lights get real bright then shut off. The dash lights do not operate with the dimmer switch. What is the problem, any help would be appreciated.

sounds like a bad switch i would replace that and look for a short i have a 99 rado and 4x4 wheel switch kept going on off and i took a soldering iron and redid now im at 100%
