dash lights off when headlights on

dash lights off when headlights on
I have a 2016 2500 silverado. When my headlights are on, the dash light go off. I know that the dash lights dim at night, but my dash light go off.
any ideas?

It sounds like the dash light dimmer switch may have accidentally been turned off. Check it, it's on the left side of the dash under the a/c vent near the driver's door. If that's not it, it could be a problem with the switch or even the headlight switch
