headlights come on, dash lights go out
on my 2001 tahoe, when the headlights automatically come on when it gets dark ( or you cover up the sensor on the dash ) the daah lights and radio all goes dark - what do I have screwed up and how do I fix it?

Just to be certain, make sure the dimmer switch for your dash lights isn't on the lowest setting first.

tymr287 's suggestion is what I thought too... might check all the fuses as well, just to make sure nothing is blown or shorting out...
Re-seating the electrical connector to the lamp switch might be worth a try also...

I didnt mention it before but I checked any fuses and relays under the hood and under the dash that I thought could have anything to do with it. anyone else have any ideas?

I am having the same issue with my 01 Tahoe. The positive batery connection was loose and the truck would not start some times....tightened all connections to the batery and now when the head lights automaticly come on the dash lights go off.
When I use the dimmer to turn the cab lights on the dash lights up but when i turn the cab lights off the dash goes dark again. Help.... I have tried all fuses and connections and nothing.

I have the same exact problem with my 2002 Chevy Tahoe....headlights come on, dash lights go out except if I turn on the interior dome light, then the dash lights come on again.
