Default In-dash trailer brake controller install

Has anyone mounted an aftermarket trailer brake controller in the dash instead of hanging under the dash in an 07 or later Silverado? If so do you have suggestions on locations and parts needed. I wanted to purchase the parts from GM for their trailer brake controller but was told it can not be retrofitted.

Thanks

that is true if not equiped not wired for itas far as an aftermarket one all you need is the controlerthe blunt cut wires should be under the dash to the left of the steering columband you need to hook up the power feed at the fusebox under the hood the wire is there just not connected it is red/black and folded up and taped out of the way there are two one powers the controler and the otheris for the constant feed to the seven way connector in the rear
