The daytime running lights on my 2003 dually are working really eratically, and the dealer never can duplicate the problem. There are some days when the regular headlights stay on regardless of daytime sunlight, and other times when it works normally. Seems like the minute it gets to the dealer's service bay everything behaves. They replaced the dash sensor one time but wondering if there is more too it, or is it possible the dealer just does want to have to tear it apart? Has anyone else had this problem or solved same?

I hate to ask the obvious, but my wife complained of the same thing. I took her work papers off the dash and the problem went away. I'm sure you're issue isn't that simple, but I wanted to get it out of the way. Are you able to override it with the headlight ****? You know turn the lights on, then off, then parking lights, then back to auto?

 

Good questions but nothing is blocking the dash sensor. I am able to manually turn the lights off, but their is a light indicator right on the **** that remains on indicating full headlights if I go back to the regular auto setting.

 

Hmm. Dunno man. I would say it's something with that sensor, then due to the erratic behavior. Maybe a bad contact somewhere. Not sure. At least you have the good side of this problem. What if your lights would never come on! That would suck.

 

Used to have the same problem in a S-10, took it to the dealer several times and they could not fix it. I burned out every light at least twice, dammit.

 

They have a fuse of there own... Pull it out... They suck
