Deep sound out of a V6

i have a 97 1500 with a 4.3 v6. was thinking about a exhaust upgrade but want a good low sound out of it. Any one done this or know what to do. Any help is great.

Well, the 4.3L V6 is essentially a 350 small-block V8 with two cylinders shaved off. You can thus figure that you are going to get 3/4 of the sound. With the correct exhaust system, the 4.3 can sound pretty good. Heck, I have heard how beautiful a tuned exhaust system sounded on a 1989 Pontiac Firebird with a little 2.8 V6 under its hood.

Go for something decent - like a Borla, Magnaflow or Flowmaster. Talk to an 'independent' exhaust shop (like a Tuffy or Meineke franchisee) who can custom bend a system to suit your needs and performance requirements.
