Default Diagnostic code U1071

My 2005 Silverado 2500HD has CEL on with code U1071,
Lost communications with Electronic Brake Control Module.
Should I replace module or look for faulty wiring.
I assume this is for trailers with electronic brakes.
Don't know where the module is either. Thanks

i dont know where the module would be but id suggest looking for faulty wiring before you replace a module itll be a little cheaper. and if you dont use the trailor brake and thats what it is you should be able to just bypass it if you dont use it

That's the EBCM a.k.a. ABS module. Do a web search for TSB #04-05-25-002D for a possible solution.
