Default engine swap

I've got a 1994 chevy silverado, 350 5-speed, 130K. I like the truck and want to keep it but have been pulling a trailer a lot (20 + 5 gooseneck with 8-10 thousand pounds on it). The truck handles the weight fine but is shy on horses.Someone reccommended a 383 storker. Would that drop in and run or would I need other major changes? Thanks

No, I haven't done anything yet. Just started entertaining ideas on what to do with it. I don't want to get too much in it, but do need some power for how it is being used. The body is in excellent shape and it has no mechanical problems so I do want to keep the truck.

The truck has 3.73 gears. I'm not up on all the hi-perfomance stuff, so bare with me. What is the S&B CAI and how much difference would that makein hrsepower. Everything on the truck is stock which I am told is about 300 horse. thanks for the help

What model is it? 1500, 2500, 3500? My uncle has a '94, 1500, 350, auto trans, with 3.73 gears, and he tows a 27' travel trailer and his truck does fine pulling. I think the direction you maywant to go is switching to 4.10 gears, it will give you the pulling you want without changing the engine and having to mess with all the connections and mounting and so on... swapping out your gears will also be less expensive than a engine swap.

S&B intake will give you more power but only like 10 horses max, if you combine it with a catback system you gain abit more. You will notice a difference towing, not so much just driving althought you will see a gain in fuel milage.

It is a K2500. Sounds like the S&B would be a good place to start if it would help pulling and fuel mpg. No complaints running empty. I've heard good and bad on performance chips. Are they worth the money and is there a noticable difference. Thanks again

I don't know, I have been wanting to install one. I ran a thread about what chip I should use, got no response.
