Front brakes calipers
So I went to change my brake pads on my 2020 Chevy Silverado had the rotors turned, went to install my new pads, could not collapse the outside lower piston on the caliper. Did everything open the bleeder valve took the cap off the master cylinder. It was locked. Bought a new caliper slid in the new pads. No problem went to do the other side same issue could not get the piston to collapse. What are the chances of I have two bad calipers on a new truck ordered the new caliper. It’s not here yet. Am I doing something wrong? I open the bleeder valve. Everything still would not collapse any help would be greatly appreciated
I used the brake pad and a pretty good size C clamp that didn’t work so I went to O’Reilly’s and rented a brake caliper, collapsing, tool whatever that didn’t work I even opened the bleeder valve took the cap off my master cylinder, none of it worked
That is crazy. I've been doing brakes for 43 years, and a C clamp and a block of wood were always my go-to for compressing the piston on the calipers. Only tricky one I had was an old Volvo with four opposing pistons on the front calipers - yes - literally 2 pistons on EACH side of the disc. I had to use every C clamp I owned to pull those in.
