Front End Shaking
2000 silverado. When I hit rough road or even the larger reflectors, with my right front tire it will shake violently. I felt for play in tire to check for bad wheel bearing, but it seems ok. Could a shock cause this? Any ideas?
a shock just keep's the tire in contact with the road after a impact ,usually old worn out shock they will let the tire violently loose contact and hop up and down after hitting a pot hole or similar item, even hitting the brake's.
My 99 Escalade is doing the same thing when a pot hole or any bump is hit. It causes a severe shake in steering wheel(left & right ringing or oscilation) that continues for 1 to 2 vehicle lengths. I suspect the shocks are at the end of their service life and are causing the problem. Stabilizer links are new so I don't think it's the front stabilizer bar. Tie rod ends are ok as well as the ball joints. I was going to try new shocks in the near future to see if they are the issue.
