Default Fuel Gage Failure after Fuel Pump Change

I have a 2004 Chevy Suburban. My fuel gage was working fine last year, but the pump started acting up. I replace the pump. The fuel gage worked find for a few hours, then with almost a full tank, it dropped to empty. I ordered another fuel pump (OEM) and installed it. Same thing... the gage worked for a short while then fell to zero again. I've been using the odometer to determine when I need to fill up. The gage toggles back and forth between Full and Empty, nowhere in between. Any ideas? Is this an issue with the wrong fuel pump?

Welcome to the forum. Did you have to splice in a new pigtail connector? If so, the Org/Black wire from the pigtail should be connected to the smaller of the two black wires in the harness. Search for "#PIT4067."
