Default Fuel Problem

I have a 97 Chevy K1500 5.7 liter. A couple of days ago my truck would not start. So i checked for spark and I got that. Then I replaced my fuel filter and that clears. Then I checked for fuel pressure and found that I have around 62 psi. I checked for a vaccum problem and no problem. So I was wondering if anyone knows how to test the fuel pressure regulator? Or if you think that it is not the fuel pressure regulator, then what would it be?

Also, one more thing to add. I got it to start yesturday, but it has a hard start and when I steped on the gas, it stuttered. Almost to the point of dying.

What should I do?

It sounds like it may have jumped timing on you, when you say hard start do you mean it turned over slowly and you had to hold it to the floor to get it to fire?

You tested the regulator when you checked your fuel pressure. That looks good. You are shooting for around 60. Have you tried pulling codes? Check for any loose or broke wires. Have you removed the big plug located behind the throttle body? If so, did you get it back down properly without bending any of the little pins? When was the last complete tune-up (plugs, wires, cap and rotor)? If these are bad, they can cause hard starts and horribly running. If you have not done this recently, I would start here. After this you can move on to some more expensive items.

See what happens , just for fun, when you bypass the MAF sensor.
