Default Fuel Tank Removal - Siphon blocked???

1998 C1500 2WD 5.0L. Fuel pump is dead. About 100 litres in tank I've tried siphoning the gas with a couple different hose sizes down to 1/4inch (sloooow). However I can't seem to get the hose very far into the tank at all before it seems to run into something... As a result I've only siphoned about 10 litres out. I was hoping to empty before dropping the tank. Any ideas on why I'm not able to get a hose fully inserted into the tank? Are there baffles are a screen or something??? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

New to the forum and forums in general.

Cheers.

It is much easier removing the bed instead of dropping the tank for a fuel pump replacement. Just need a few friends to help lift it. Just be sure to unplug the tail lights.

Default tank

There are baffles to prevent theft. As mentioned above take the bed off.

Thanks for the insight. That approach never occurred to me. That would save quite a hassle. Will get on that this weekend

I unbolted the bed and slid it back. You will have to disconnect taillight wiring. I jacked mine up, slid 2x6's between the bed and frame.

Thanks 57 Deluxe. I was looking at it and I live in a pretty remote area where it's tough to get a bunch of buys together to lift off the bed. Your approach makes good sense and should solve it for me. Thanks again.
