Default gas mileage?

hey im new to the forum and ahve been reaserching a new truck. For a living I detail both Chevys and Dodges, so I am loyal to buying one of the two. Ive noticed lately the deals on left over Silverado's are amazing. So i was wondering what you guys are getting for gas milage out of yours? I was hoping to get an extended cab, with 4 wheel drive and either the 4.8 or 5.3 liter v8. Also what can you do to boost up that gas milage? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Wes

I believe that an extended cab, short bed 4x4 will get 16-17 MPG on the highway. 5.3L

My Ext. cap 4x4 5.3 gets 14.9 on a good day. Mostly highway. That is on mid grade. If you reset the trip computer on the highway you will get 18mpg on the highway only.

The 4.8 is much better on fuel. My last truck had that and averaged 22 mpg.

There is a reason for all the good deals. Make sure you do the research on whatever you buy. Today's Chevy is not yesterdays, good and bad.

I have a 5.3L 4x4 and it gets 12 mpg in city and 15 mpg on highway.

Depends on how you drive it. I'm pretty conservative with acceleration (depending on the day) and I get 16 city, 19-20 highway with my 5.3L Crew Cab 4x4.

Even pulling an old pickup bed utility trailer on the highway I get 15-16, with the trailering shift points turned on.
