Hey everyone,
I have a 1995 chevy z1500, and I have two issues I think are part of the same thing.
1. My truck seems to run cold by cold I mean somewhere around 150, or near the first 1/4 of the temp gage.
2. My heater is not blowing hot air. (steps taken for the heater, the AC does work, controller does make the air come out of different vents, heat blend door actuator does seem to move when I turn it to hot so I assume the problem is not with something inside the truck cab)
My truck doesn't overheat so I didn't think it was the thermostat, but I started the truck took the radiator cap off and let it run for about 10 minutes and it never overflowed.
The top radiator hose felt warm but not hot.
The heater hoses or the one I could reach at the time felt warm but not hot.
Maybe my temperature gage is not working correctly and the thermostat or water pump is failing and I can't tell but then wouldn't I have steam coming out of the radiator?
I am not sure where to go from here.
Any help would be appreciated.

Yea, it may be stuck open as indicated. I believe the recommended operating temp is 195, but you can get 160 and 180 thermostats. Have you always owned or is this new to you? Someone else may have put in a different thermostat??
