Hello, I am new to the forum. I have a 93 1500 with 4L60 trans that has become all forward gears. In every postion shifted it goes forwaed. Can anyone shed some light on why this has happened. I am interested in rebuilding my trans myself.

 

If you want to rebuild it you're gonna need some trans tools and some knowledge on how to rebuild it. It'll take about 350 dollars in parts if you rebuild the trans yourself and another 300 give or take if you have someone else do it. I had mine rebuilt and put in and it took less than a day. I work at a dealership but we don't currently have a transmission tech and I didn't want to put it in myself again. So I shelled out the 650-700 dollars to have it all done. I also got a 35,000 mile warranty with my transmission. So if anything happens to go wrong I can just take it back to the transmission shop if anything goes wrong.
If you really want to do it yourself though I salute you lol. I plan to attempt to rebuild my old one myself and learn more. Just find out as much as you can and take your time, don't rush yourself. Good luck.

 

Hey Outcast, Well yes i did a dodge trans last year and is stiil going LOL. Is there anywhere on the forum that i can download a repair manual? This is always a good source of information.
