my 1993 Cheyenne has a major loss of power when you step on the accelerator and is cutting out it is also back firing please help

 

Well a little more info might get you some more replies, but anyways have you tried messing with the timing. It sounds like your timing could be off. Also, I think you have the throttle body injection so just make sure your getting good air and fuel.

 

You could have a fuel delivery problem in your Cheyenne. It is good to start by checking fuel pressure. Fuel injected cars are very fuel pressure sensitive. Fuel pressure is very important and must be within specifications. However, if the pressure is low, it does not mean the pump is bad. A plugged fuel filter, a pinched line, and low voltage at the pump can contribute to low fuel pressure. All these three must be checked before replacing the pump.

 

thanks. we replaced the fuel pump earlier this year but not the fuel filter and it is my grandfathers so i cant tell to much about it off hand we just had the catalytic converter replaced it has a new distributor cap and plug wires it was supposed to be put back in time by our mechanics
