Default HID Setup

I have an 04 silverado 1500 z71. I am wondering what to go with for HID's. I was thinking of 8000k on the low beams and 6000k on the hi. I have smoked lens' and the stock halogens just aren't cutting it for my visibility. I want the bright aspect of the 6000k but I also would like the blue tint the 8000k gives off. I also have the 6 hi mod done with diodes in the fuse box. Does anyone have a setup similar to this that can tell me how they like it?!

Please, please, please ONLY do this if you have the bulbs AND the housing. Nothing is worse for other drivers than people who have HID bulbs in standard headlamp housings.

I drive big rigs - much of my time on the road is late at night - and the dazzling blue light is both irritating and dangerous. You'll notice that cars with the HID systems as factory equipment don't do that (BMW, Audi, Porsche, etc.) and the light is cooler and properly aimed.

Nothing worse than a 1999 Hyundai Accent with 1,000,000 candlepower blue headlights coming up slowly behind me. Argh!

I'll agree with above statement. Get the proper headlights. They'll not only be friendlier to other drivers, but actually will utilize the HID better while driving at night.

Also if you have smoked lenses, I wouldn't waste my time with the blue ones in 8k. They will be no better than standard halogens. The blue-ish tinted ones actually cut down on visibility. 4300k-5k is the best for drivin, but also blinds the crap out of people, well they all do anyways.

Morimoto retrofit makes some awesome conversions you could do. Make sure you research the topic though as it's not exactly plug and play.

They are the correct head light assembly's. I checked to see if they were before I purchased them

That's a start. Now color wise like said I wouldn't waste time on the 8k. The blue doesn't have good visibility in stock lights and then you have smoked lenses. It won't help much. I have the 6 hi mod on my truck as well with HIDs and love them. Mine are 6k all around and have a slight blue hue to them but more white.
