Default Hope I didn't make a mistake- traded max for 14'

So I had zero issues with my 05 max /hd trailering package 4.10 rear crew cab. Had 43000 miles on her. Needed to replace tires, horrible gm steel brake lines, and tranny lines in the near future. I have had luck with chevys, so I replaced her with a new one.

Got 16 grand as a trade and bought a 14 silverado LT crew 4x4. Must say that even though the 5.3 puts out 380 lbs of torque like the max, she just does not feel as rugged and powerful as the max. Obviously different beast. Would have loved the new 6L silverado, but far too pricey for an occasional towing truck. Throttle on the 14 is harder/stiff and has a strange bit of lag in it when you step on the go pedal. Must be a fuel saver feature. Throttle engagement is not smooth and is actually a bit harsh according to my wife. MPGs are no better than the iron block 6L max engine. Can't put a better muffler on it because the 4 cylinder mode changes the exhaust note at random and would make a magnaflow sound like crap. Exhaust pipe also has an internal spring loaded flap that is used to control the sound. Very very quiet at idle and tame at full throttle. Miss the sound of the max. Eco...... is a joke. Deception. How can my cave man primitive iron block max engine get mpg figures that are the same or better???

Cloth seat padding is much harder than the 05 according to my daughters.

Will upgrade to denali wheels 22 GM Wheels Tires | eBay and nerfbar. 22 inch Chrome Chevy Truck Silverado Tahoe Wheels Rims and Tires | eBayFactory GM upgrade wheels were a rip off.

Don't like the rake of the front end. Will add a leveling kit to bring it level with the rear.

If you plan on towing, get a bigger/non fuel spec rear. Also, I hear that the direct ignition 4 cylinder mode makes the eco engine burn a lot of oil. May have to add a catchcan- Universal 9mm Cusco Engine Oil Catch Tank Can Filter Reservoir GC8 WRX EVO New | eBay to prevent this condition or buy one of these Range Technology | AFM Solutions for GM Cars, Trucks & SUVs. I have a catchcan on my ls1 z28 and my ram plow truck and my intakes are as clean as day one.

I hope I made a good choice staying loyal to chevy and not going for the twin turbo f150.

diesel engines are 30% more efficient than comparable gassers.

gassers are cheaper to fix...you don't want an old diesel when its time to change injectors. I wonder what the new di gas injectors cost?

22" tires will drop your towing capacity by 1500lbs I bet

I will keep the factory 18in wheels and tires for winter and towing. Some of the ltzs have the larger tires factory though.

I do think that all the hi tec electronics will be a cash cow for gm when they break. The issue is that they are not adding to the fuel effeciency label advertised. But when they break, you will have to pay an arm and a leg.

They need to KISS- keep it simple stupid!

That feelin when you punch it and nothin happens. Gotta love it, called torque management. I'm not sure if anyone out there is tunin the 14s yet as they're new motors, but wih a tune I bet the new 5.3s are a pretty wild animal. The tune can also delete the 4cylinder feature so you can add an exhaust to it and now sound like crap every time it switches over. Passin in the seats could be just that it's not broke in yet. The interiors are more comfortable in the few that I've been in compared to my 01, 03, and 08 silverado I've got now

Wouldn't a tune void the warranty? These new trucks communicate to big brother through on board diagnostics and keep records of everything.
