How do I properly wax my truck?

How do I properly wax my truck?
So I Have some scratches I wanna try and buff out with wax but i have never waxed a vehicle before.
I have an electric buffer that spins around, but like I stated, no idea how to properly apply wax, polish, buff, how long to wait before buffing, what to do after buffing etc.
would someone mind giving me some instructions on how to properly wax a truck?
