If well maintained it should reach 200k no problem!

Default How many miles?

I just clicked over 220,000 about a week ago on my 99 Silverado with 5.3 Liter V-8. It's a 3 door 4 wheel drive auto. I've had it since November 2012 with no problems. I put a set of new tires on it about 3 months ago so I should be good to go for a few more years.

It should unless you were lucky enough to have GM install defective heads on your truck. Hell you use to be able to get 300K no problem. My 2005 has been.nothing but problem after problem.

Hi:

I just traded in my '99 Silverado for a 2008. The '99 had over 226,000 miles with original engine and tranny. I haul a 29' camper and the '99 pulled it like a dream. I almost hated to get rid of the '99 it has done so well. No big problems, but I started hearing a few noises here and there, it had a window leak, and some of the trim and interior was getting rough. I just thought it should be time for SOMETHING to go wrong. I just hope my 08 performs as good!

I am wanting to buy an 07 with 171k on the miles...anyone think that is to many for an 07? I don't want to buy, then while making payments for another three or four years I have to put a rebuilt tranny in it. (in 2 years)

I am about to spend ~ $1500 to perform all recommended 100,000 mile maintenence recommendations.

My question is this: For a vehicle that has been maintined very well, does another 5 years (or 60,000 miles) seem reasonable for the Silverado?

Oh-yeah with poor maintenance I was able to get 247000 on my 4.3 before it blew a head gasket ,it was still running strong I could pop the clutch and boil the tires . I had to replace the engine though due to no mechanic would do the work cause of the miles but I think it would have gotten 300000 with no problem if not for the head gasket .

2003 Chevy Silverado 1500 Z/71 with 165,000. Change oil & filter every 2,500 miles. Runs great in all seasons! Doesn't leak or burn any oil between changes. Does have a drippy transfer case, and the transmission does a little hesitation on the upshift to 3rd gear. Plan on replacing the transfer case and have the transmission tested. Have recently replaced the drive belt, transmission filter & fluid. Plan on getting the rest of the maintenance up including plugs and wires, fuel injector cleaning, power steering flush, switch out rear differential fluid, flush cooling system, replace fuel filter and PCV valve.

Do I dare put a 5th wheel hitch on this truck and hit the open road?
