howling in front end when 4x4 is engaged
I have a 2002 Z71 ext cab. It's perfectly sound when in 2wd. When i put it in 4wd hi, low etc there is a howling sound coming from the front end. It only makes the noise while accelerating i believe. I think it may be a bearing or something. Anyone have any idea's?
Thanks Chris

Ckadoun,
I agree with Osiris204850. I had 130k on mine when I changed them and I was told that was a lot of miles for the original ones. I only use my four wheel drive a few times a year because I live in Arizona. You have to remember that they turn all the time when the vehicle is moving, that is a lot of wear and tear !! The only other thing I can think of would be universal joints ???
Good Luck , Dondobe

I have the same problem with my 2001 3/4 ton suburban, a cv makes alot of sense now thatI think about it. This is my first IFS truck and forgot about the cv's. How hard are they to change on these trucks? The cv might even account for the slight vibration i get around 75 mph, tires have been balanced and rebalanced, slight vibration around 75 mph... could this attribute to that as well?
