Instrument panel gauges won’t work.

Just bought a 2003 Silverado 2500HD 4x4 EXT cab. It has 80K on it. 6.0L. It worked great all the way home then I stopped to let the wife pee, I know mistake, and when I started it back up none of the gauges are working. The spedo and tac work but that’s it. The seatbelt and ABS light are on. The temp and oil pressure and the other gauges will not work. I am thinking a fuse????? Any thoughts?

That generation of Silverado is somewhat famous for "instrument panel" problems. I have a 2004 and my voltmeter doesn't work properly and my tach goes a little wacko about once a month. Fortunately, everything else works just fine.

I think there was a recall about this a few years back, but I am not sure. Good luck with your truck, though, and welcome to the forum!

Use the forum search feature and you will find lots of helpful info on the IP issues.. may have links with how to's and pictures for soldering the FET device that can cause most of the problems...

2003 till 2006 were bad years for instrument clusters. The stepper motors that operate the needle in the gauges were faulty and most had to be replaced. You can try a dealer to see if your Silverado was included in the recall. I had to repair the cluster in my Trailblazer as they were not included in the recall. Dealer wants $600 to repair. If you can solder then you can do it yourself for about $25.00

Is a recall on the dash cluster still valid on a 2004 model year vehicle? Seems like a long, long time to honor such a repair.

Try the dealer or call Chevrolet customer service. They can answer that question.
