knock sensor problem in uk
i have a silverado 6l 2003 hd2500 pick up, runs on petrol and lpg, with flash lube to lubricate seats and guides.
my question is this i have low voltage on no. 2 sensor, have ordered new sensors and wires and gaskets, with 8 petrol and 8 gas injectors there is a lot of wiring. the engine runs sweet and tows a fifth wheel at 4 3/4 tons no problems returning on lpg 15 to 19 mpg. i am going to fit knock sensors to block under exhaust manifold has anyone done this or has anyone a better idea of where to fit them as where they are now - under inlet manifold - seems to be a gm problem. and i really dont want to disturb all of this wiring.
thanks

after no reply to my first post, deceided to move sensors any way, have located them to front of left hand head in a vacant tapped hole, and rear of right hand head, runs fine and no codes have come up so far.

i checked for positions for moving the knock sensors and found two threaded holes, one [as you look at engine] left hand bank, plenty of clearance to fit sensor and wiring connection, second at rear of right hand cylinder head, this one a bit fiddly, as the connection to it has to be at 90 decrees [right angles]cleaned up surface of cylinder heads for good earth. knock sensors screwed in no problem, cut away existing wiring from old knock sensors and soldered to new knock sensor wiring. have done 200 miles since and no light coming up on dash. this way seems a good way to do it as you dont move any other wiring, connections or gaskets. was n ot a hard job took about an hour.
if you look holes are easy to see. but the right hand one is done from under the engine, oh and sheath the wiring afterwards to stop it rubbibg on anything.
when you have done it check with an avo ac voltage 2volts. knock sensor to avo, avo to earth, then i hit alterator bracket with heavy spanner or similar to check voltage reading [it will register with the impact] should read the same.
sorry for no pictures am old school and dont know how to do that.
i will gladly reply to any further questions on this subject
