Default a little help

hey, I used to be up to date on all of the aftermarket parts for chevrolet when I had my 2000 z-71, but now I have a 2006 1500 4x4 with 17" wheels. I have always been a fan of 15-16.5" wheels, I would much rather see more rubber than wheel. I am super pissed off that I can never see my truck sitting on 16x10 wheels again. Aside from shaving the calipers is there anyway to put a smaller than stock wheel on the newer trucks. I am also thinking about adding an intake system and other add ons that "help" gas mileage. If anyone has any opinions or knowledge on this subject, I would greatly appreciate input.

Welcome to the forum!!! There have been several threads on CAI's and Exhaust, you may to do a search on those. I my opinion I would go with a S&B CAI and a cat back exhaust sytem to compliment the CAI. You can check out S&Bat http://www.sbfilters.com/andfor some really good info on filters check this out, http://www.thetruthaboutfilters.com/.

Heres what mine looks like,

Hey JK- I know CAI's and Exhaust are supposed to give a little better mileage but the main reason for adding them is for better performance and sound. I have a K&N CAI and a Flowmaster single in dual outexhaust on my 01. I noticed a slight performance increase when I added them but no mileage gains. It's probably cause it sounds so good I'm jamming my foot into the gas to hear it - LOL. Good luck.

If you have a small v8, I would go with the super 40 flowmaster, big v8 go with the super 44, you will not be disappointed!! As for intakes, 1st choice would be S&B, 2nd choice would be Volant. Both good systems, S&B's quite a bit cheaper. Welcome to the forum, glad to have you here.

thanks, I already have true dual straight pipes. I prefer their sound over a muffler because I hear them when I want to, and they can be quiet when I am running 60 mph.
