I have an 1999 Silverado 1500 4X4 and received a message on the information center on the dashboard to Service 4 wheel drive. This occured after I switched to four wheel drive from two wheel drive. I selected four wheel drive yesterday when stuck in the gravel, and it did not seem to operate the front wheels.

What do you recommend?

 

I'm in on this one. My 2004 2500 has started displaying this message also. 4wd does not engage when this error message is lit. G

 

Check the fluid in your transfer case

 

I added fluid, the shifting was loud after that but it took care of the problem. Whiew I love the easy ones. Thanks to all of you for your support!
