Motor Swap
I have a 90 1/2 ton 2wd chevy (love it) being 16 and likin to drive. Anyways recently since my 5.3L V8 has shown its age with over 293,000 miles. Recently my Dad found a Vortec 350 for cheap so he got it just to have around ( We always have more and more projects). So i came across the idea to put the Vortec 350 in my truck.
I want to:
1:Put Vortec 350 in my truck
^i want to know if i can buy a vortec ecu and wire the computer into my truck and ditch my computer
2:I have a turbo 350 tranny sittin around that has 0 miles since being rebuilt i want to pair this in and ditch the 700r4 tranny
I want to know what problems i may encounter and any suggestions or help would be much appreciated
I really want to use the Vortec and the th350 being 16 i dont have a huge bankroll and would like to use what i have sitting around
Thanks
Ryan

RE: Motor Swap
if you have a v6 in it now...and want to put the 350 in there it wont run with the v6 computer. i have done this a few years ago and i cant really remember if the truck just didnt run or was running like crap with the v6 computer, i dont remember but i had to put the 350 computer in and use the 350 wiring harness....as far as the tranny goes im almost positive you can use the tranny thats already in the truck, i dont remember if they bolt right up or if there is a adapter of some sort....if i was you id try to match things up with whats already being used in the truck, like tranny and such.....there is for sure to be headaches with what your doing nomatter how you do it, but it can be done with patience and knowledge...best of luck
