Default motor swap

I just bought a 94 Z71 with 150k miles on it and it quit 3 days after buying it. The dealer won`t do anything about it. Today i was talking to my best friends dad today and found out he has an 89-91 model (he couldnt recall the exact year) Truck with the same motor that i have in mine. Hes willing to sell it for 300 and he said it has no more than 50k miles on it. My question is I have an exhaust system and headers for a 94 model will it still work on an older model motor?

93 was a bastard year, as they started to change minor things on the EFI, some had 92 components, and others had 94 pieces, the basic "Long block" is chinese --- (same, same) Identicle, some time around 95 or 96 they started the vortec, but exaust ports are the same from 1955 to 1999. I have 1986 heads in my 1997 K1500 using the 1997 exaust manifolds. exaust changes were for the benifit of he engineers, who could not make the vehicles close enough to use one style. with all of that said, if it plugs in to the 1994 wiring harness, move it to the new motor ,and transplant that HEARTBEAT.
