Default Motor Swap

Well I go to High School and Im taking a automotive class and their giving me a motor...and i took the engine codes of the block and we think it came out of a mid 90's silverado....its a 5.7l missing a few parts nothing major but the the one hige thing its missing is a tranny...well i was thinking about getting a truck with a blown motor and droping that motor into it...i was thinking about putting it in a s-10 but i dont know if the bolt patterns are the same...i was woundering if yall could tell me what diff cars this motor could go into that the tranny would bolt up to...

you could eqasily drop that motor into anything that ran a 350 motor. There are several kits available to drop that motor into an s-10, tough work, but I think its a cool project. I don't beleive, and may be wrong, but off the top of my head cannot think of a car in the 90's that ran a 350 motor. They were pretty much resigned to truck use. good luck.

Anything with a 305 can use the 350 as a direct bolt in. If it has the computer, use a 350 chip in it, This ain't rocket science.

Definitely not rocket science, as long as the car its going into had a 350 motor or 305, your motor ounts and bell housing for the transmission should all be the same. Just as Bill said, you'll definitely want to make certain you take the entire wiring harness for the motor and massage it into the new vehicle
