Default Mudding in my 89 k1500 silverado 350 5.7

When i go into the mud my truck chokes and then dies. At first i thought to my self it was the exhausts system( it has newer headers and exhaust system thats cut off right after the muffler). I took it to spray it down with a pressure washer and it did the same thing. It started then as i pushed the gas it choked out and stalled the it wouldn't start back up for like two mins. And then it repeated the same thing when i hit the gas. I never hit the exhaust with water is this a problem with my starter? Am i looking in the wrong direction about this? Thank you all for the help!!!!!!

Welcome to the forum...
When was the last time that air filter was changed... a wet air filter will stop the air flow

Thank you!!! I couldnt tell you the last time it was changed to be honest! I got it like last week! I ordered the k&n filter and am looking for a snorkel for it also. I ordered the new starter and new fuses. I hope that all makes it run like a champ i got a huge party planned for sunday in the mud hole it would be great if i didnt have to cancel

The starter will NOT cause any vehicle to stall or cause a running issue. The starter only turns the engine to get it to start then it is inactive until the next time you start the truck. Fuses can not cause a running problem. If they blow it may shut off the engine(they do not blow for no reason, must be shorted out or overloaded). Once the blow they are blown it would not restart ever again until the fuse is replaced. Did you get the engine wet?? It is not an exhaust problem either. You likely have an ignition issue an a small possibility of fuel delivery problem. It the truck TBI or has it been changed to a carburetor?

It depends, if you were splashing threw deep water it could have pushed up into the some electrical connections. same if your were spraying the motor with water.

If its not the air filter, it may be your fuel system isent keeping up with the ammount of air coming into the carb. Try replacing fuel lines, filters, and pumps.

What about the distributor. Are you splashing the distributor and moisture could be getting in there causing your motor to choke and when given a minute to dry it can deliver a good spark. I am not really sure at all that is just my 2 cents.

I used to have a s10 that did the same thing, I took some black silicone and sealed the distributor cap shut and put a bead around each of the plug wires connecting to it.
