well im getting my first truck finally, its a 2004 1500. Im a Jeep guy and have been in the jeep world for the last 5 years. but its time to move on. i havent gotten the truck yet, but will be in the next week. basically i want to know how to lift it, im used to coils front and rear with solid axles. is the IFS that hard to work on? ive already decided to do atleast a 6 inch lift. whats the best bang for the buck lift? Rough Country im guessing. But what i really want to know is when lifting these trucks, whats all involved? With a jeep lift kit theres other things you have to buy when you go a certain height. but with a 6 inch lift for the chevys, am i going to have to buy anything else? or just the kit itself. i'll be installing the kit myself, if i have instructions i can do it, i just have never worked with IFS. thanks for any advice.

 

I guess I can be one of the first to send out a Welcome! to you. I bought a 2004 Silverado LS 1500 2WD last month - although it is certainly not my first Chevrolet (but it is my first GM truck). My last Chevrolet was a Chevette - LOL!

Anyway.....I wish you the best of luck. I am not really into the whole "lifting" thing and jacking up a truck; but it's your money, so knock yourself out. Keep the fluids & filters changed and you should be fine.

welcoem to the forum. i see lots of trucks with a RC lift. shop around befor you go with RC. they charge a arm and leg for a lift and you can get the same lift at skyjacker,summit racing for $500 cheaper. i plan on lifting my 95 in the summer.

 

Its not that hard, just dedicate yourself some time, and follow the directions. You might have to drill a hole or two. Don't get in a hurry, and do it right. You might need longer brake lines.
