New guy saying hi and showing my silverado
Hey all, new guy here and just wanted to introduce myself. Had my Silverado for two years now and its my first ever GM truck (save for the 91 Typhoon I once had) and for some reason I love the dang thing. I am a true car guy and am not brand loyalist, if its cool and fast then I like it. I am a mechanic and own a small repair and performance shop here in Texas.
So on to my truck. Its a 1996 C1500 Silverado with 180k on it, bought it with 128k two years ago. Bought it as a shop truck, well traded it actually for a 90 Jeep Comanche straight up, and it has morphed into my daily driver just because its the only thing I ever owned that I could completely count on.
I have spent a ton on it to keep it that way. If something even hinted at failing then it gets fixed.
So what I have done to it so far is (this is a long read):
Bosch Front Rotors, ceramic pads, Timken bearings, brake lines, premium drums, premium shoes, all new rear brake hardware including wheel cylinders, new master cylinder, new brake booster, rear end service including bearings and seals also timken, fuel pump (Delphi), fuel filter, mono tube shocks all around, sway bar links, ball joints, tie rods, adjustment sleeves, pitman arm, idler arm, drag link (center link) - all OEM Delco parts, radiator, hoses, water pump, heater hoses, heater core, evap core, AC drier, AC compressor, 180 amp alt upgrade, door handles, window motors, cabin blower, leather OEM steering wheel, replaced spider injection with updated version, intake gaskets, converted to conventional coolant (all was new so I could), custom exhaust with a BBK x-pipe, high flow cats and Flowmaster knockoffs, always synthetic Castrol oil changes, trans service, new cruise control, Michelin tires, new OEM tail lights and circuit boards, new clear front end lights, new OEM grill, billet Bow Tie, chrome mirrors, new bumper trim, Hypertech Max Power, 180* thermostat and a few other things I am sure I am forgetting.
For the interior I installed a new headliner, deep tinted the windows, remote start Clifford alarm, Pioneer Pandora/USB deck, Boston Pro components (about to put up for sale due to Illusion Audio Carbon C6 speakers on the way), JL Audio 450/4 and 500/1 amps, Audio Control ESP2, Dayton Audio 12" subs under the rear seat and some sound deadening.
Really all I have left to do is install another new windshield next month when the stickers expire and then get some of the door dings PDRd out. Also have to repaint the black letters on the tailgate as they are fading and I don't want to drop $360+ on a new one.
Anywho, here she is. let me know what ya'll think.
*The outside pics were taken before I slapped in the new lights and grill this morning.
