Default New here. 2003 c1500 4L60-E trans help

I looked through at least the first 10 pages and only one topic sounded similar to my troubles. It was Likearock97's topic about his 1997 Silverado 4x4 transmission problems.

This happened just yesterday. I was driving along and truck starts to not want to shift into gears. Engine revs up about 500rpm from where it should and then shifts. I bring it home and check the trans fluid and everything is fine. I drive up the road for a few miles with no problems, then it loses all trans function. The truck will not move. I then pull the truck over and shut it off completely. I restart the truck and everything works fine for about 2-3 miles and then it starts not wanting to move again. I shut it off completely again and restart and everything works fine for the next mile or so. I did not try to manually shift through the gears and am afraid to take it out on the road again to try. Don't know if this helps, but recently my battery gauge has stopped working. Truck cranks perfectly also.

Does anyone know what might be wrong? Has anyone had this problem before?

Thanks for any and all help.

Welcome to the forum. You may want to check the voltage level at both sides of the 10A TRANS fuse in the I/P fuse block with key on and compare it against the battery voltage. Get someone to jiggle the key in ignition in the run position while you measure the voltage at the TRANS fuse. If the voltage level is low or fluctuates, chances are you need a new ignition switch.

Hmm, I see yours is a 2003. The equivalent fuse for the 2003 would be the 10A IGN 0 fuse in the I/P fuse block. It sits between the ignition switch and electrical circuits inside the transmission including shift solenoids.

Thanks, I will try that.

Also, at Autozone they ran a diagnostic test and they said the O2 sensor was causing the check engine light. Don't know if that adds to maybe it being an electrical problem or not.

Well, some AutoZone guy saying "the O2 sensor was causing the check engine light" is less than helpful. There're so many O2 sensor trouble codes and codes are just a starting point anyway.

Well, I thought that since the O2 sensors and the transmission were on the same fuse that maybe the O2 sensor was somehow shorting it out.

Hence the check engine light referring to the O2 sensor

Are you still working on that? Did you try what I suggested in post #2 above (substitute IGN 0 for TRANS fuse)? What was the outcome? As for the O2 sensor, I wouldn't know if and where it fits in unless you post the actual code.
