New member, and a quick question.
How you guys doing? This is my first post and I am a new member. I just bought a new2008 Silverado LT2 crew cab. I like it alot but just have a couple of questions. The second glove departmentwhere the towing cable is located is smashed down. Its not aligned to the dashboard at all. The dealer said thats how they come and they can't do anything about it! Well I think its b.s because two buddyies at my work have the same truck and theirs look perfect. I didn't feel like being a complainer so I said okay but it looks horrible and it rattles on the freeway. What should I tell them? Or should I not complain. Also theres been multiple times now where I put the car into reverse or gear after starting it and nothing happens. I'll give it gas and it just rev's. Has this happened to anyone? Thanks alot you guys. - Martin.
take it back tell them to fix it or they can have the truck back forever ,if you can take your buddy's truck with you to show them .they made the contract with you to sell you a quality product ,and it's time to deliver ! don't take any guff from them tell them you want a gm factory service advisor if you have to ,get it resolved.
I took the truck into a dealer to get the spray in bed liner and told them about the issues I had hoping to get them resolved. I got the truck back and the bed liner looked great. But the glove department still looked like crap! They said they had done the best they could and thats how GM builds it so there is nothing much they could do. That is so b.s. Also, I let them know how reverse was not working sometimesand they told me that they looked into and noticed nothing different or out of the ordinary. And the paper bill said, "Could not replicate issue"!! That pisses me off. A 35k truck and the glove department box looks like it was smashed by a forklift and I can't use reverse sometimes! Scary part is was, I was backing out of my drive way while I put the transmission in reverse(or so it said it was in reverse) and I let the car roll into the street(since pushing the gas on a downward slop was not necessary and gravity could do it just fine) and when I went to back up for the final 10 or 20 feet, the truck was just reving when I was pushing the gas! I had two cars on both lanes coming towards me and I couldn't move! I thought I was going to get smashed, I ended up letting the car rolling neutral out of the way of the other two vehicles and restarting the engine. Seemed to get it going again. I have to go back and tell the dealer my issue, but I bet again, they aren't going to believe me and not want to do anything.I just want my truck working as its supposed to you know, also I know this is a big favor to ask but, if any of you guys have that second glove department, can you guys take a pic of it and post it so I can see how it compares to mine. Thanks alot for the info.- Martin
Tell them it almost, God forbid, ended in tragedy. Ask them how they would have felt if you had had your family with you and something happens. Lawyers would be breaking down your door to represent you. GM would go broke faster than ever (or at least it would raise their insurance rates). Call their National Customer Headquaters (or some equivilant agency)and tell them the issue and let them know you did and are going to keep in with this agency until issue is resolved. Stay on them. Keep speaking to "Higher Up's" untilyou get it resolved. Check to see if there are any applicable laws in your state that allow you totrade it to anotherbrand new one ect.
i have a new 08 silverado 2LT extended cab. the fit and finish of both glove compartments on my truck are very good. try taking it to another dealer or insist they fix the problem. i had one problem with my truck that you may very well have with yours. check the oil after the truck has been shut off and sitting on level ground for a few minutes, or longer. the oil level reading on my truck was about one half inch above the full mark on the dipstick. after a long drawn out process the dealer was finally able to find the problem and fix it. turns out the truck had the wrong dipstick and dipstick tube. i was told that all 08's came from the factory with the wrong dipstick and tube. check it out. by the way, i haven't seen any tranny problems to date.

Thanks for the replies. I am going again to the dealeragain today, well in a few hours since its 1 am lol But this time I will be taking in some proof of the transmission not grabbing reverse. I recorded it on camera! Another thing about the glove department, they can't come all messed up as they said they do, if you go straight onto www.chevrolet.com you can viewpictures of the interior of my same truck and both glove departments look perfect. Well I'll update the status of my situation when I get back from the dealership. Hopefully they fix my issues since the truck is only a week old. I hope I don't have to raise my voice or complain, since I hate arguing with those people, I just want the issue resolved.
Okay, I just got back from the dealer. I spoke to the service manager. I told him about three main issues I was having with the brand new truck. When I told him about the issue with the transmissiosn of not grabbing reverse and the truck not moving at all he said he couldn't see how it would do that because he tried it 10 times and nothing happen. Then I showed him proof of it because it happened to me last night and I recorded it. He saw the video and was speechless. He told me "well, like I said I can't do anything about it if it seems fine"It's on video!!!!! So then I tell him about the glove compartment and he says well its a production car and not all are the same andI pretty much got a bad one and theres nothing he or I can do and its physically impossible to fix. Again B.S. Well I tell him about the issue were the transmission gives a big jolt when shifting down. It feels like I get rear ended when I stop of the car down shifts its annoying. I read many many articles where people get them fixed because of a slip yoke that neededs to be lubbed so I bring it up to him and he tells me they are liars and that its a characteristic of the vehicle and its impossible to fix. Is this true? What should I do? Thanks again. - Martin (sorry if I sound like a complainer, but 35k for a truck and I can't reverse and have a smashed glove compartment and the transmission is grinding and it feels like I get hit, and the thing that pissed me off the most is that people have gotten these issues fixed, and thats all I want for my truck, is for the issues to be fixed)
is there another dealer close by you can take it..
If not call the 1-800-Ipissedoff GM service line, generally someone will phone the dealership and ask WTF is going on, tell them you have video of it. usually solves issues here, I make my customers call it If I cant get nowhere with service sometimes..
Get your salesman involved, or did you not buy it at the same dealership you are trying to get it serviced at.?
