Default New and Need Help

Just got a 2003 Silverado 1500HD LS

I have a question in regard to the steering wheel controls.

First of all did the LS trim come with steering wheel controls? mine has it.
Though i will add that the buttons themselves dont seem to illuminate

If so any thoughts on why the lower buttons do not work? The ones for the DIC (driver info center) I have already checked the 10a fuse under the hood.

Ive considered attempting to remove the switches to see if they are even plugged in or perhaps dead but there are too many variables in this i feel like need other opinions.

My 2003 LS has steering wheel controls for the Cruise control. They illuminate and they work.

Do you have the airbag light on?

It isn't on that I'm aware of. What would that have to do with it though?

it could be that the buttons are not working because the clockspring may be broken(the clock spring is a wound up bunch of wires so there is always a direct connection to the airbag) the wires for the buttons are also part of that spring. If the airbag light were on that could be a indication of where the problem is.

So are the upper buttons for volume etc not part of that same system (regarding the clockspring) because those do function.
