Default New Tires

This may seem like a stupid question but I really don't know too much about cars. I have 16" tires on my truck right now and I'd like to get some 17" tires. Will I have to buy new rims, and will I have to change anything else?

No question is a dumb question if we don't know the answer. I'm disappointed no one has responded to you prior to this.

Yes the wheels will need to be changed. The "inch" measurement is the diameter of the wheel, hence a 17" tire would be too large to fit on a 16" wheel.

Go to http:www.tirerack.com to glean a ton of knowlege about tires and wheels, fitment, etc.

Good Luck, Steve

no you shouldnt new GM trucks come stock with 16,17, 18, and 20s, unless you have a duramax..???

which case they only come 16s mostly still.....either way you should be fine with a 17, 20 maybe tight ona a duramax, and check offset, you should not have any trouble only going to a 17, but when turing depending on tire size we ran into trouble with tires rubbing...
