Default No heat in cab during winter!!!

I recently bought this 95 chevy k1500, it ran fine till it started telling me it was overheating. I popped the hood and found I was running low on anti freeze, put some 50/50 in and now the next day my truck will not blow warm air in the cab. It was fine before I popped the hood. The fan **** only works on high and off and I think that might be the problem. Anyone else have any ideas, it is below freezing in Missouri right now and need it fixed fast without braking the bank.

The fan only running on Hi and Low is probably caused by a bad fan motor resister. The issue of not getting hot air in the truck be caused by several things. A faulty blend door actuator, a clogged heater core, engine not reaching operating temp are some of the possible problems.

after the thermostat opens, is there any heat increase when the engine is rev'ed to 2000rpm for ten seconds or so?

can you hear the blend door move or feel a change in airflow when the temperature control is changed from full hot to cold.

There is not a noticeable noise difference.
When I turn the A/C on the airflow does change.

I don't believe it is the thermostat because the truck runs fine and is at a fine running temp.

not sure for the 95 model year but the 98's use a temp door actuator to move the temp blend door.

You might want to start there. If you remove the glove box you might be able to see it. It will be to the left of the glove box opening and looks like a square plastic boxa 3 or so inches in size.

I replaced my upper power steering hose today, it was leaking at the crimp and found I have a leak in the radiator on the bottom drivers side. I'll go to the junk yard and pick another one up. Hope that returns the heat to my cab.

I have to go to the car wash when it gets warmer because of all the leaking now under the hood is full of grime.

with the truck running, squeeze the upper radiator hose a couple times after topping coolant off. when i replaced my radiator i had to do this to get the air out of it because my heat wasn't working, same thing on my buick when i sheared the pulley off of the water pump.
