Hi new to this forum stuff but need some help. have a 1988 chevy silverado 4x4 5.7 TBI. It had a Bad Valve On number 8 piston with only 42,000 miles on motor.Had head redone at machine shop, put head back on and now have no spark to plugs and no fuel going into TBI. Bought New CAP, ROTOR, Plugs, Plug Wires, Pickup Coil , Ignition Coil and ignition control Modual in distributor and still no fire help any suggestions. The only thing that i did wrong that probably caused the problem i have now is i started pulling the hot wire to altenator before disconnecting battery and shorted that wire on the altenator housing

 

Id check all your fuses, hopefully its that. Worse case, you might have fried the ECM.

 

NO Fuel NO Spark At Plugs All New Distributor Both Coils For The Love Of God HELP ME!

 

Could be alot of things, Id start be checking the easy stuff like fuses & wire harness connections. There is really no sure way to test the ECM unless it is looked at by a tech.

 

Thanks for the info Mike can I take the ecm out of the truck and have it tested?

 

Id contact a shop, explain your situation and they will tell you what to do. If it were me, Id break out the voltmeter and start checking all the electrical if all the fuses are ok.

 

I agree with Mike, check the electrical circuits 1st. It is possible that you fried the ECM, but I don't think that the OBD1 system would stop it from totally firing.

 

Thanks for the information i was wondering if a Chevy dealer shop could test the ECM out of the truck because i am a long way from town?

 

The dealer will probably send it in to be checked by thier guys, call & ask, maybe you mailing it to someone to be checked will save you time & $$ rather than going thru the dealer. I am just not sure who to send it to.
