Default no start after head gasket replaced

hi, i'm new to this forum and had a question: i recently just put new head gaskets and all the the other gasket on to part of the engine due to a intake gasket leak but now after putting it all back together it now it doesn't start and only back fires hard...

so far i have put it on tdc, lined the distributor up to the number one cylinder, and even checked if the valves are closed which they were as it was on tdc.. Am i missing some step to make this beast run again?

its a vortec 350 and it ran great until i had to do this. if you send some help that would be greatly appreciate it. i'm almost tempted to just bring it to a shop and paying for it but i would hate doing that if i just over look something simple. Thanks for any help

found out that i needed to turn the harmonic balancer over 360 degrees to get the cylinder to tdc compression stroke, it was on tdc but not on tdc compression stroke and then i had to reset the distributor back to point at #8 that is stamp on the plastic of distributor post and also reinstalled the rocker arms and adjusted them. some were too tight and were keeping the valves open. hopes this helps someone that might need it

What year is this truck? What model? I will move this post to correct section so more people will read it.
