Default OnStar Disabling

I have a 2007 Silverado 1500 Extended Cab Standard Bed New Body Style 2LT. I am still looking for the OnStar controller. I know, it's a truck, there's not a lot of hiding places, but GM really hid that sucker well. I've dropped the glove box all the way forward and the XM controller is sitting there but no OnStar. Has anyone else found this box? If so, what's a good way to get to it? This truck has that center console so looking up under the center of the dash doesn't really work. Thanks in advance.

Try doing a search over in the Tahoe section. It may be in the same location. Also you could PM zx1100f1. He is the wikipedia of GM products and has always been very helpful.

I haven't looked at the Silverado, but my Corvette has a fuse for the OnStar. Pullng the fuse should disable it.

The Onstar control module is located behind the center dash lower trim panel just to the right of the ashtray.
There are two screws on the left side of the panel that must be removed then the trim panel is removed by pulling, it is held in place using several spring clips.

The module is held in place by a plastic bracket.

I think the only thing that the fuse does is disable the voice communications part. It does nothing to the gps and the actual data collection unit that most people want to disable.

+1 with Crewcabfan; Why disable it? Does it have to be disabled to put an aftermarket GPS in or something of that nature?
