Default P0332 Code on a 2009 Silverado 1500

Hi there,

New to the forum and new to the Silverado. I've seen that there are several possible reasons for this code to show, but I was wondering if there is a known frequent cause that I should start with. How big of a job is it to do yourself?

Sounds like one of your knock sensors is bad or has corrosion, likely due to water or moisture contamination. Unfortunately, they are located
below your intake manifold.

You'll need to remove your intake manifold and replace both sensors. I'd put RTV sealer around them to keep water out which is one reason they go bad. GM says not to put the sealer all the way around the seal, but I suppose they need to vent a bit. Use some good replacement ACDelco sensors, not some cheap ones. This is a job you don't want to do again. Fel-pro intake manifold gaskets are the best, as well.

You'll need to torque it all to factory specs, along with your intake manifold bolts (always use Neverseize on your intake manifold bolts) along with the knock sensors. You can likely rent the proper torque wrenches from Autozone or Oreillys not buy them outright unless you have them.
