Default Parking brake adjustment

My 2002 1500 parking brake pedal is now going to the floor and barely holding on level ground. I have the Haynes manual but it doesn't say if the parking brake is self adjusting. I took the brake rotor off and I can see what appears to be the star adjustment wheel, but I'm not sure if it adjusts automatically. The shoes look OK.
Any help is appreciated.

As stated, you should tighten the Cables.

I don't remember if your ride has one adjustment for both rear wheels or one common, anyway...

Be sure that your Emergency Brake is completely released:
Get underneath the vehicle and see the cable(s) running from a common point to both rear Wheels.

Then at that common point (about the middle of the vehicle right behind the transmission) see (if a single cable) a "U" shaped guide, with one threaded bolt and nut. Tighten that nut where there is about a 3" movement when you pull down on the cable.

If it's a two Cable adjustment, tighten down equally on both Cables where there is about a 2" give when you pull on each Cable.

Note:
Large adjustments in the EBrake System, usually indicates the need for Brake Shoe Replacement, OR, a stuck Automatic Adjuster on one or both Wheels.
