Default Pedal Corrosion-04 ext. 2wd, 5.3L

Hi all,
Is it normal for the gas and brake pedal arms to be/look corroded and not the emergency brake pedal? Any ideas on what would cause this? I'll try to post some pics tonight or tomorrow night.

thanks!

Don't ask me why or how it happens, but I'm looking at my pedals on my 04 right now, and seeing the same thing...

I just had it in the shop for some work and of course they had no idea what could have caused it.
